Who we are

Thrive LA is a civic engagement organization based in Los Angeles, California. We build tools and run programs to help Angelenos participate more effectively in local democracy.

What we collect

When you interact with our website, we may collect:

• Contact information you submit via our forms — name, email, phone number, zip code, and any optional fields you choose to fill out.
• Membership and donation information processed through Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your payment card details on our servers.
• Approximate location derived from your IP address (city and region only — never precise coordinates).
• Browser metadata including user agent and the page you came from, used to detect spam and improve the site.
• Voter guide preferences if you sign up for personalized election information.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• Send you the information you requested (voter guides, event invitations, host toolkits)
• Reach out about volunteer opportunities you indicated interest in
• Send occasional updates about Thrive LA's work, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
• Process membership payments and recurring contributions
• Improve our website and detect abuse

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Third parties we work with

To run our site and programs, we share data with a small number of trusted vendors:

• Supabase — our database provider, hosted in the United States
• Resend — our email delivery provider
• Stripe — our payment processor (membership and donations only)
• Vercel — our website hosting provider

Each of these vendors has its own privacy policy. They process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to keep it secure.

Your rights under California law

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of any sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

How long we keep your data

We keep your information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons.

How to unsubscribe

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link in the footer. You can also email hello@thrivelosangeles.org and we'll remove you from all communications within 5 business days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email to subscribers.
